Best mermaid duo ever ♥

Xanthe (left) and me (right) :D

Ok so we kind of looked like mermaids right?
Unfortunately evolution hasn't let us physically sprout a fish tail (yet...) so I think the maxi dresses did a good enough job of getting the idea across for me and the fabulous Xanthe May, oui?

I ended up going way over budget for my maxi dress because I tried so many on in so many shops but then as soon as I walked into Topshop I saw this one and BAM it had to be mine.
Also at the 'Under The Sea' themed birthday bash I spied a Loch Ness Monster (cleverly wearing red tartan and green face paint) a giant yellow submarine, a pearl, a drop of water, a wave, surfers, some Hawaiians and also some sailors and pirates.
What a night.
And then it's my leavers ball tomorrow marking the end of my compulsory education and officially kicking off my 10 week summer holdiay. Wahey.
I am even going to get my hair cut and my makeup done at MAC with my BFFL for it. I know, get me pulling out all the stops.
Hope all you lovely bloggers/blog readers are having lots of fun in the sunshine, I know its unusually sweltering in England at the moment.
So layer up the factor 30 and enjoy amigos!
Beth Ruby xoxo

ps) THANKYOU SO MUCH TO EACH OF MY 200 FOLLOWERS!
Finally reaching the big 200 has made my day! Love you guys!

Chanel Inspired Bridal Shower: The Details

Miss Type-A that I am, I am a sucker for details!  And the details from our Chanel Inspired Bridal Shower Shoot are AH-MAZ-ING!  Remember, this was a styled shoot, not a real bridal shower.  So it is meant to inspire only...

Invitation by Tilde Designs

Desserts by Jay's Catering

All florals by Heavenly Blooms

The shoot was planned by myself and Jaclyne from Heavenly Blooms.  The event planning and design was carried out by Jaclyne and In The Now Weddings.  It was shot by Jasmine Star, located at the Richard Nixon Library, and the furniture was provided by Luxe Event Rentals and Classic Party Rentals.

A Winning Oscar Party

I've seen some great Oscar party ideas on the blog circuit recently, and I'm passing them along here hoping someone will use them and throw a fun party.  My husband and I take watching the Oscars very seriously...we have a ballot competition, make treats, and have seen most (me) or all (him) of the nominated films.  But this year I'll be watching the Oscars alone, because husband is working at the Governor's Ball after the Oscars and leaving me to compete with myself.  "No I don't mind watching the Oscars alone while you're hob-nobbing with the Oscar attendees at the most glamorous party of the year...have fun!"

Seriously though, how cute are these Oscar ideas, courtesy of the always creative Twig & Thistle and the amazing Amy Atlas!

To download the ballots go here and to download the popcorn bags go here and to see the full features at Twig & Thistle, go here.

To see the full feature and for recipes from Bakerella for the cookies and brownies above, go here.

So download, bake, pick your winners, and have fun!  I'll be rooting for The Hurt Locker (although I loved Avatar and Inglorious Basterds too!), Kathryn Bigelow, and Jeff Bridges myself...

Down the Rabbit Hole

One of my favorite stories as a child was Alice in Wonderland.  Food and drink that makes you grow big or small, a hookah-smoking caterpillar, a rabbit that is always late, not to mention a cheshire cat (what exactly IS a cheshire cat?), and celebrating un-birthdays...what's not to love!?  So needless to say, I am giddy to an embarrassing degree about the new Tim Burton film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (out 3/5 in 3D...Hello!!!).  I'm sure it will be a tribute to the "curiouser and curiouser."

In anticipation, I thought an inspiration board would be fun.  I have to admit I started seeing a couple on other blogs after I had decided to make one, but that will not deter my Alice spirit!

I also love this 2003 Vogue Alice in Wonderland fashion editorial shoot by the incredible Annie Leibovitz.  If this is what happens when you go down the rabbit hole, someone push me!

Top 10 Best Dressed- London Fashion Week

This season the fashion forward celebrities who attended London Fashion Week outdid themselves in the style stakes. But out of all of the people and the parties here is my countdown of top 10 best dressed of the week:

10. Georgia Jagger in Chloe. With that bed head hair and minimal makeup she looks like she has rolled out of bed and into her heels. The ultimate laid back look.

9. Agyness Deyn doing what she does best at the Burberry afer party; tomboy cool. Brouges, mini dress, stockings and a cool jacket top off her casual night time look.
8. Leigh Lazark shimmers in this all black glittery number.
7. The lovely Jourdan Dunn looks gorgeous holding this shocking pink Mulberry clutch. (I had to stop myself from using the words "glowing" and "radiating" which is what people always seem to describe pregnant ladies as...)

6. Kaya Scodelario, who plays the oh so cool Effy in Skins looks oh so cool here in a Comme Des Garcons tee and Mulberry shoes.
5. Super models Natalia Vodianova and Lily Donaldson are the perfect stylish pair. Loving Lily's necklace and Natalia's Stella Mccartney dress.
4. Chanel Iman looks stunning at the Mulberry after party. Love that midnight blue jacket. But then she looks so good she could wear a plastic Tescos carrier bag and make it look fashionable.
3. Kate Moss, Queen of bohemian cool looks amazing at the Topshop unique show. I predict I rise in the sale of trilbys!

2. Alexa Chung, self confessed Luella obsessor looked amazing in this floral spring summer frock at the Vogue LFW dinner. Love her eye makeup, wish I could master that 'cat flick' liquid eyeliner look.

1. But at number one it has to be Emma Watson. She outshone all of the other A-Listers from Victoria Beckham to Liv Tyler at Buberry's closing party for the 25th anniversary of LFW in this dazzling dress.
Seriously is there nothing this girl can't do?
-She plays the one and only Hermione Granger.
-She has got a place at Brown University, one of the best in America and got straight A's on her A-Levels (nearly said OWLS then but stopped the Harry Potter nerd speak coming out just in time)
-She is doing some designing for charity People Tree
-AND on top of all that she always manages to look good.

However this Burberry dress (which is the ultimate party frock: short + sequins = stunning!) paired with some killer heels, tousled hair and smoky eyes is her best fashion choice yet.

Who is your number 1 best dressed from London Fashion Week?
