Where fashion and music meet- Rihanna

Here is some of the original photography I have completed for my media production piece, a fashion and music magazine.

The series of shoots we did were inspired by musicians who inspire people for their sense of style as much as their music and lyrics.

This first one is based around Rihanna and her bold fashion sense:

Rate the Red Carpet

Sometimes I am not sure about Rihanna's style choices (remember her crazy Gareth Pugh choices at London Fashion Week?!)

But I love love love this monochrome laser cutout gown by Marchesa.

It just adds the right amount of interest and drama to a boring old red carpet at the American Music Awards.

And bearing in mind that it has been about a year since that horrible incident with Chris Brown it is lovely to see her smiling and looking happy and healthy! So even though she didn't pick up any awards at least she gets my vote for best dressed of the night ;)

The Balmain Jacket craze shows no signs of dying down so grab yourself an original (or a budget-friendly inspired version). Net-a-Porter currently sells the originals but you can also find "knock-offs" at your favorite stores such as Topshop in the UK or Shopbop.com here in the US. Beyonce and Ciarahave championed this look by pairing their 80's / Michael Jackson inspired jackets with skinny jeans. Or make like Rihanna and add a little volume down below. Either way, these power jackets will take you well into 2010.

A select few celebrities can do no wrong style-wise for me, and Rihanna is right there at the top of that list. Doesn’t matter what it is, if she’s wearing it, I want it. The yellow dress she rocked at the BET Awards last night? Yes. Latex leggings? Love. Oversized hoops? Must. Have. Pleated, slouchy trousers with a white tank? Perfection. Of course, seeing as I work at an online retailer, tracking down Rihanna-like items on our site could be considered research. (Purchasing said items? Now that’s a bit harder to rationalize.)
