Men Fashion Maestro on Holiday Attire

Published by Details of Men.Style. Our famous Italian fashion designer, Giorgio Armani shared his "10 Rules of Style" for holiday attire. The things he stresses the most for any style are confident, timelessness, and keeping thing simple. Find out more about his 10 rules of style below.

1. When choosing a men suit, a man should look for something that he can wear, and not something that will wear him. In other words, elegance, sophistication, and timeless style are always better than of-the-moment trends, which will date—and date the wearer. 2. As for style, a two-button suit is more timeless than a three- or a one-button. A single-breasted is more versatile than double—allowing you to dress your suit up or down more freely and use the jacket as a separate more easily. 3. The most important thing is to feel comfortable in your clothes. If you feel comfortable, you will feel self-confident.

4. The worst sartorial faux pas you can make is looking like you’re trying too hard. To develop your own individual style, really consider what suits you.

5. If you remain curious about the world, you will stay young at heart. Beyond that, I recommend an hour’s exercise every day and a healthy diet with a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits.

6. The holidays mean a handsome velvet tuxedo jacket. If you’re entertaining at home and feel like it, you can try one in a midnight blue or deep plum and you should wear velvet slippers. If you go out, wear shoes—preferably wing tips. 7. When buying a men suit, go for a color that will not date too soon, like a mid-tone gray or a black. 8. When an actor, like George Clooney, is on the red carpet, or when a man goes to a formal event, he shouldn’t dress excessively—he risks becoming too much of a spectacle.

9. At black-tie events you can get away with a jacket that has a bit more of an extreme line, something that’s really fitted. And you can never go wrong wearing a clean white shirt.

10. Confidence and a sense of humor make a man sey. And having an Armani wardrobe doesn’t hurt either. For those who still remember, find out Armani's 21 rules to achieve style, which he shared with us a year ago.

Man Fashion: Unique Slipper for Summer

It has launched last year, and that's right, this beach footwear comes without any cover. No straps, no heels, no laces. Your naked feet is fully visible (and susceptible) to the elements.

In fact, it will feel like walking barefooted, only in this case, the floor sticks to your feet. This uncovered and unconventional slipper is made of a soft molded rubber that promises to cling to your feet even while you are chasing after a bus.

The secret is the rounded slot that fits snugly into your toe cleavage. And that's it. It's the only connection that stops you and your beach footwear from flying off your feet.

Yves Saint Laurent | 1936-2008

The inventor of modern-day ready-to-wear, the first designer to use black models on his runway, the first to bring androgyny to high fashion, the successor to Christian Dior, the first to license his name to other businesses, and one of the youngest designers ever to be at the helm of a major Parisian Haute Couture house, Yves Saint Laurent, died at his home on Sunday evening, June 1, 2008.

Fans of YSL, or simply those who want to learn more, may want to check out the newly-opened (and, I guess, impeccably-timed) YSL retrospective at the Musée des Beaux Arts de Montréal which runs until September 28, 2008 and which is being planned in conjunction with La Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent. Pierre Bergé himself was on-hand for the opening of the highly-acclaimed exhibit last week, and according to a friend on the organising team, he recounted some incredible stories about his life and times with Monsieur Saint Laurent.

Man Fashion: Are You A Metro Man?

By Tomer Reiser

The metro look is one of the hottest around and it's not hard to emulate. If you want to be a metro man, you'll be well on your way if you follow these steps:

1. Grooming - Before you get to the clothes, you've got to start with grooming. Metro men have impeccable hair cuts and they wax or shave any unnecessary hair. Painful, yes, but the overall effect makes it worth it.

2. Textures -The texture of the clothing you wear is very important. You want to go with the most opulent fabrics you can find. Look for cashmere sweaters and tee shirts, or high quality cotton. Your shirts should be soft and well tailored.

3. Cut - Metro men are tailored and always look sharp. Look for classic suits that present a professional and polished impression. For regular clothes, look for tight tees and expensive designer jeans.

4. Style - Metro men wear the latest fashions. Subscribe to a few men's fashion magazines so you can stay on top of all the latest trends.

5. Cologne - No metro man is complete without a dash of expensive cologne. Try to find a scent that fits your particular personality. If you're going for sensual, an oriental or musky scent is right for you. More of an outdoorsy type? Look for cologne with a fresh and clean scent.

6. Accessories - You'll need plenty of accessories to get started. First, a very nice expensive watch. Silver or gold are a good place to start, but a leather band always look nice too. Next, you'll need a fine chain for your neck in the color that suits your complexion the best. A tasteful ring isn't out of the question either, or a few bracelets to complete the look.

7. Shoes - Never overlook this important part of your outfit. Shoes can be classic or trendy, but they have to look good. Keep them polished and clean at all times. No metro man would be caught dead in a pair of scuffed and ratty shoes.

8. Go Digital - Metro men typically have a variety of digital accessories, including a cell phone, Blackberry, MacBook Air and an iPod.

9. Leather Goods - You'll need a nice leather bag to keep all your stuff together. Look for a high quality bag that will withstand the rigors of every day use. Make sure it has a padded portion for your laptop and other essentials.

10. Maintenance - Once you've got your look pulled together, you need to keep it up. Invest in some male facial cleansers, toners and moisturizers. Don't be afraid to get a manicure to keep your hands looking neat and clean.

Put all of these hints together and you can see just how easy it is to go "metro".

There is nothing wrong with a well-groomed, well-dressed man. Just remember to keep everything up and stay on top of all the latest fashion trends to make sure you don't fall behind.

Man Fashion: Lacoste 2008 Spring Collection

To mark Lacoste's 75th, creative director Christophe Lemaire took the path of least resistance, back to the label's Biarritz roots. People in that part of France are fond of an old, tennis-like ball game called Basque pelote. really have what it takes to update a classic. He opened the show with white blazers trimmed with red and black, especially the first all-white looks had an appropriately vintage feel, worn with Basque-red cummerbunds and espadrilles to underline the regional story.

Lacoste still means tennis, especially when the company's box at the U.S. Open was a fashion hot spot, but Christophe Lemaire has managed to extend the association with intimations of other leisurely pursuits. Lemaire can at least make his audience think summery thoughts.

How to Choose Your Fashion Eyewear?

I have talked about sunglasses and contact lenses in my previous post. But I think it is fair to go one step further to discuss on eyewear, particularly how to choose your perfect eyeglasses.

With so many styles of eyewear and eyeglasses to choose from how are you possibly to know which ones will look best over your eyes? With today’s fashion savvy designers, glasses come in every style possibly imaginable. From rimless, to cat eye, round, to square, and from brands like Gucci, to Prada, to Calvin Klein, how are you to choose the perfect match?

There are many things to consider overall, the first being: do you want an eyeglass frame that will be subtle and practically unnoticeable and blend with your complexion? Or would you prefer something a little bolder to accentuate your features?

Rimless or frameless eyeglasses have become a very popular choice. They are lightweight, simple, and fashionable. When selecting your pair you may have options regarding metal frame color, hinge style, and lens shape.

Framed eyewear has two main families; plastic or zyl, and metal frames. When choosing your frame, know what general color or shade you will want. For example, glasses come in matte finishes, shades such as tortoise, and practically everything in between.

On to the most important part of selecting your eyewear: matching the correct shape eyeglass frame to your face. There are many rules you can follow, let’s look at the most simple to understand and apply.

Take a look in the mirror and focus on the area above your eyes. What shape do your brow bones and eyebrows create? This area may look very oval, round, flat, curved inward, curved outward, etc.. The point is that this feature is unique to you.

The next time you are looking at eyeglasses, try to match the top of the eyeglasses (the upper edge of the lenses and frames) with the shape of your brow. You will be pleasantly surprised to see that most any frame you select using this method will fit you quite nicely. Using this method you will take the mystery out of, and make selecting your next pair of eyeglass or reading glasses frames much more fun.

Man Fashion Accessory: Cufflinks

While 'cuff links' is defined by the American Heritage English Dictionary as a pair of linked buttons or a similar device used to fasten the cuffs of a shirt, in modern usage 'cufflinks' is a combined variant spelling of the same fashion accessory. Cuff links / cufflinks are worn by men and women alike. More feminine, lighter-weight cuff links are also available for women's wear. Gemstone cufflinks are a perfect gift of perennial fashion for a wedding, prom, formal dinner, graduation, anniversary, after-five cocktails, evening dress, and daily office wear.

For your first time wearing fashion cufflinks, take your cue from the tone of the event and what others will be wearing. One way is to ask those putting on the event about appropriate attire. It may be helpful to wear your fashion cufflinks with the rest of your outfit at least once before the occasion to get used to wearing them, so you feel comfortable on the day. Because gemstone cuff links are real, and especially if the gemstones show unique characteristics, they can say a lot about you. And they can be a delight to wear.

To link a cuff with the most widely found design, close the swivel bar and insert the stem through the holes from the outside of the cuff with the gemstone or other main feature facing outward so it shows. Then simply open the swivel bar to secure the cuff.

Cuff links may be worn with your choice of several cuff styles, and matched with a necktie, button cover, ascot, or bolo tie / bola tie. Cuffs for custom dress shirts can include French cuffs (doubly layered and with two 'buttonholes' for each layer) in several styles such as angle-cut French cuffs or rounded-corner French cuffs. Additionally, there are many convertible cuff styles, with a second 'buttonhole' next to a button, so that you can wear cufflinks or simply button the cuff. Such cuffs can be straight, angled, or rounded, with one or two buttons plus 'buttonholes.' Similarly, the cuffs of an existing shirt can be made convertible. While there are many choices, keep in mind that all it takes is having two 'buttonholes.' The rest is simply your style preference. You may also wear cufflinks and studs with a shirt front with double button holes for the studs. Or a convertible style to button or wear with studs.

Choose cufflinks in keeping with the mood of the occasion. Hematite Cuff Links and other impressive, darker gemstones may be worn to the most formal event. Paua Shell Cuff Links and more personally expressive gemstones may suit a more festive occasion or daily wear for the office. Let the mood of the occasion guide your choice of gemstones.

Keep in mind that appropriate attire is usually not as rigid as a uniform, and there are many opportunities for personal expression. Plus, looking good with always fashionable gem cuff links means you are more likely to enjoy the occasion.

Men Fashion: From Runway to Your Closet

By Jennifer Wasilewski

Ever year fashion designers and other fashion minded folk flock to cities like Paris and Milan to share in runway madness. Beautiful bodies strut up and down the catwalk showing off what fashion designers have worked so hard to put together. At home, while we sit in our casual wear we look to the trend setting fashion shows and ask "Who actually wears that?" The men and women that walk down the runway seem to be part of some awe inspiring vivid dream where people dawn the most ridiculous costumes. While you may not everything at the fashion shows on the street there are a few things that will make it out to your favorite clothing store. Here are a few of the outrageous men fashions that you can take to daily life.

1. Hammer Pants
If you think Hammer pants were a nightmare left to the early nineties think again. Apparently these ultra baggy pants were just something to legit for fashion designers to quit. Fashion designers are bringing these.

How You Can Wear It Though you may think hammer pants should be left to the late 80's, they are back in men's fashion and you can definitely pull them off. Stay away from the glitzy shiny pairs and go for ones that are a made from dark, no shine pair in black, brown, or gray, or dark blue and green. These colors make the hammer pants more acceptable and will look fashionable instead of outlandish.

2. Sheer

Want to be revealing without putting it out there? Sheer clothing isn't just for the ladies anymore. The runways were full of super thin tops to cover or barely cover the men that modeled them.

How You Can Wear It Your biggest concern is probably looking less than manly in sheer attire, but with the proper clothing you can pull this off easily. Look for sheer sweaters in solid colors and wear them over button down shirts or T-shirts. This allows you to still take part in this sexy trend without looking ridiculous. If you're really daring try wearing a sheer top to the beach or poolside as a cover up until you hit the water.

3. The Zipper In a strange attempt to bring back what I'm assuming is rock n roll attire fashion designers have gone zipper happy. Whether its shirts, coats, pants or shorts there are zippers everywhere. It seems function is not at the heart of this fashion statement since there are zippers in places you can barely reach let alone use.

How You Can Wear It Wearing zipper clad clothing can be a tricky feat. The key is to have enough zippers to rock the trend without having so many you stand out like a sore thumb caught in a zipper. While the zipper trend is seen in shirts, shorts, pants, and jackets, you may want to start with the jacket to test the waters.

4. Pajamas Who wouldn't love to go to work donning pajama bottom and slippers? Thanks to the wacky minds of America's top men's fashion designers your dreams are now realized. Silk, flannel, and cotton pants have somehow worked their way out of the bedroom and on to the runway.

How You Can Wear It The pajama look is a lot easier to pull off this spring than you would think. Stick with the semi casual pajama trends like cotton striped pants paired with a button down polo and you'll be comfortable and fashionable. Stay away from silk printed pairs or the I just rolled out of bed wrinkled look.

5. Cropped Pants If only you had the fashion foresight to hold on to those high-waters when you mom told you you were to old to wear them. Cropped pants are all the rage for men this spring with hemlines making a movement upwards.

How You Can Wear It The capri pants is probably the hardest trend for men to get past. It seems like that little bit of ankle and lower calf should be left to the ladies out. Look for Cropped Pants that rise a few inches above the ankle and stick to khaki like materials in neutral colors like tan, green, and brown. These are great for beach wear so pair them with a t-shirt and sandals.

Man Fashion: Do You Have a Perfect Fashion Dress Suit?

Every fashion designer and fashion expert will give any men this advice when it comes to what they should have in their closet. They will say that every man needs to own at least one nice fashion dress suit no matter what they do or a living. You never know when you find it necessary to wear your men suit such as a wedding, funeral or a job or job interview that requires business attire. You are always taken a little more seriously if you are wearing a nice men suit.

If you have no idea how to choose men's fashion dress suit. Here are a few general guidelines you can always follow when considering buying a new men fashion dress suit.

  • Choose a fabric – You absolutely, positively cannot go wrong with purchasing a worsted wools men fashion dress suit. I’m also talking about gabardines and mid-weight corded wools as well. As you are shopping around the different stores looking for men fashion dress suits, you’re going to come across ones that are labeled “Super 100”. This only means the yarn was twisted more often than the usual 60-80 twist wools but it is considered to be a mid-weight. Look for fabric that springs back after it's squeezed without wrinkling.
  • How the pants fit - The waistline of men trousers need to be comfortable. The test to see how well men trousers fit is to stick two fingers into the waist while you're wearing them. If you are able to do this, then they fit properly. As far as pleated pants are concerned, it depends on your body type. If you are a little chubby in the stomach area, then you can get away with wearing pleats since it will help cover it up. If you are thinner, then stay away from them. Pleats will only make you appear skinnier.
  • Sleeve length - The sleeve length needs to be exact and the correct length. You’ll end up looking like a bum or someone who borrowed your little brother’s dress suit at the last moment. Neither of those options are a good look. You’ll know the sleeve is too long if it covers your shirt cuff. You want the sleeve to just reach the base of your thumb, revealing a half inch to an inch of your shirt cuff.
  • Your pants hem – If you’re looking to make a horrible impression in your men fashion dress suit, then just pay no attention the length of your pants and make sure they aren’t hemmed. Now seriously, they should reach your shoes with a slight break. You can either go with pants that are cuffed or un-cuffed, but cuff-less give the impression you are taller. Pants with cuffs give off the appearance of more maturity.
  • Jacket waist - The men fashion dress suit’s jacket needs to fit easily across your stomach in order to appear professional. A traditional American cut fashion dress suit known for its signature two buttons and a mainstay for many years is now being replaced by fitted suit jackets with three and four buttons. Shop around for fitted waistlines that enhance the shape of your body if even you prefer either style, classic or modern.
  • Fit of the suit – A good fitting business attire suit should allow you to stretch and bend without any problems and have a free range of movement for your arms. To be sure you have this, bring your arms out straight in front of you. The most important thing to remember is you should always be comfortable no matter what.

Man Fashion: All about Men's T-shirts

As man fashion launches itself headfirst into 2008, emerging musical trends - most notably like new rave - seem to have influenced men t-shirt design industry in a variety of ways. Tops and T-shirts for men found on the fashion highway are so bright, colorful and splashed across with patterns that it's hard to believe that, at one time, the t-shirt was only available in one color - white.

There are so many different type of Men's T-shirt out there, and if you are looking for unique shirts for a gift or to add to your own wardrobe, it is probably is time to do some quick research at the different types of t-shirts that are available.

1. Men's pre-printed t-shirts. Men's pre-printed t-shirts offer an unlimited number of design possibilities including cartoon characters, television show logos and sayings, funny sayings, and novelty designs which suit your taste and styles.

USA Lightweight Ringer Tee Shirt - $ 28.90

Men and women’s t-shirts are usually cut the same, however, some designers create a slightly more tailored t-shirt cut for women’s designs. So remember to ask or try it out when you shop for men's t-shirt. If you are going to buy a t-shirt as a gift for a your special one, you will want to know how she likes her t-shirt to fit, loose or fitted. If you know this then you will know what t-shirt cut to look for.

Save Mice Heavyweight T Shirt - $ 30.90

2. Men's vintage t-shirts. Vintage t-shirts don’t always mean second hand. In some stores, men's vintage t-shirts are new shirts with vintage designs. If you are interested in this type of t-shirt then you will need to look for them in specialty shops and boutiques, as most regular retailers don’t carry vintage styles t-shirts. However, this is slowly starting to change.

Man Fashion: Creative Contact Lens, anyone?

I am sure everyone have get in touch with contact lens in one way or another, either in TV ads, using it now or hear about it from your friends. But when come to body decoration, we make statements about ourselves by the style and color of our hair, our clothing, body tattoos, earrings and piercing just to name a few examples. it will be the last time we will think of decoration with our eyes, at least for me! :)

With all of the advancements that have been made in the field of movie special effects, contact lenses have evolved as something more than just a way to correct your vision. Creative contact lenses or also called crazy contact lenses can make your eyes look like that of practically any animal or creature, real or imagined. Movies that showcase monsters, ghouls, aliens or zombies are especially popular with creative contact lens makers. They allow you to take the persona you are trying to represent to a whole new level.
Creative contact lenses are not only limited to animal eyes or horror movie characters. There are countless other looks and designs and colors available. How about wearing silver-in-the-dark eyes? Crazy, huh? Maybe you’d rather have something that is more sweet and delicate like star eyes or daisies. Or, you could represent your favorite sports team and have your eyes portray your team’s colors and logo. Wear those and people will have a hard time keeping their eyes on the game instead of you. You would be the main attraction at any tailgate party.

Wearing a pair of crazy contact lenses could be that finishing touch that turns a great costume into an amazingly stupendous costume. The most popular time to consider crazy contact lenses is in October, right before Halloween. But you can in fact get one in any special occasion. So are you ready in getting one of this?

How to Maintain Your Style and Saving account

I used to wonder how my colleagues could afford the latest and greatest fashions. Despite the fact that we all took home the identical meager salary, they walked in the door every week with a new outfit. I walked in the door with the shirts and khaki pants. It took a few decades before I realized that their clothes were actually owned by Visa and MasterCard. This was a realization I made without ever looking at their credit card statement. I could see the stress in their eyes. By the time they paid off that latest clothing set, those sets are out of style. Then we are on a Fashion Hamster Wheel.

However, one of my colleague James was different. He was always tastefully dressed, his clothes predating the next fashion trend. Almost every time I asked him where he got his clothes he told me he bought them at a thrift store. There was something else about James's style that no one else had - serenity, mean he had ZERO DEBT. He was in full control of his spending and it was palpable.

James clearly had his own sense of style. With a little creativity and a small investment of time, he was able to act on it. I'm not quote you have to forego shopping at your most approved stores to be able to afford a big item like car or house. What I am proverb is - instead of desperately searching for the exact jean tom Cruise wore to his latest movie premier and paying bank for it off the rack - be a little daring and create your own style based on what you may afford.

Defining your own style takes instant and it evolves. Read fashion magazines, watch movies and see what you like. But instead of mimicking what you see, adapt it. Learn to trust your instinct. Learn what looks grand on your body structure (very important). Every time you see a young gentleman wearing fashion jeans that obviously shouldn't be, take it as a reminder that not every fashion trend is for everyone.

Fashion isn't about conforming - its about creating.

Man Fashion: Skirt for Men

A kilt is a traditional garment of modern Scottish and Celtic culture typically worn by men. Kilts exist in various modern forms, and in forms inspired by the historical garment, including:
  1. The modern form of the traditional Scottish garment;
  2. The historical form of this same Scottish garment (cf. History of the kilt);
  3. Various other national forms of the kilt, such as the Northumbrian kilt, Irish kilt, Welsh kilt, Cornish kilt, and the Contemporary kilt;
  4. Certain types of school uniform skirts for girls
At modern-day Highland games gatherings in Scotland and elsewhere, the modern version of the traditional Scottish kilt is much in evidence. Historical forms of the Scottish kilt have differed in several particulars (some quite substantial) from the modern-day version. With reference to the Scottish kilt, the organizations that sanction and grade the competitions in Highland dancing and bagpiping all have rules governing acceptable attire for the competitors. These rules specify that kilts are to be worn (except that in the national dances, the female competitors will be wearing the Aboyne dress).
With a simple search, you can easy find a number of websites related to this. I am personally find the following websites more relevant.
